Sr Environmental Safety\Occupational Health Engineer

Description

Duties and Responsibilities include:

· Interprets, recommends, and complies with safety and health regulations and/or contract requirements

· Conduct assigned workplace assessments and inspections to ensure compliance and behavioral objectives are being achieved.

· Takes effective steps to ensure that workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standard provisions, ensuring that all required records are prepared and maintained

· Maintain, develop and implement program and procedures to help ensure occupational health and safety and related regulatory compliance.

· Develop and present personnel training programs relating to hazard awareness, workplace health and safety practices and applicable regulatory requirements.

· Follow-up of reported workplace incidents and safety concerns which can entail incident investigation, job hazard analysis, and assistance in development/ review of standard operating procedures.

· Manage complex projects that ensure environmental stewardship and increased health and safety of employees and contractors

Qualifications

· Must have a minimum of 6+ yearsof progressively responsible experience in the occupational safety and health field

· Must have a strong background and knowledge of laws, regulations, consensus standards, and current technology concerning health and safety issues

· Must be well organized and have excellent attention to detail and thoroughness with accomplishing assigned tasks from inception through completion in a multi-tasking environment

· Must meet eligibility requirements for certification as a safety professional (CSP) by Board of Certified Safety Professionals or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) by American Board of Industrial Hygiene

· Must be a highly energetic, self motivated, proactive, enthusiastic professional with a “can do” work ethic

· Must have the ability to handle potentially stressful situations

· Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision, but will not hesitate to ask or seek information from supervisor or peers so that tasks can be completed correctly

· Must have considerable independent judgment to make decisions bearing impact on EH&S services or programs

· Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English with a wide variety of personnel, including management, employees of regulatory agencies

· Must be computer proficient including the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications for creating and modifying documents, accessing and using the internet, and using Microsoft Outlook for email

· Must have the physical ability to bend, climb ladders, and lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.)

Desired Skills:

· Knowledge of Australian occupational health regulations.

· Experience implementing subcontractor EH&S Management programs with a demonstrated track record of success.

· Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
