PROJECT OVERVIEW:
Parsons is managing an Independent Validation and Verification ( IV&V) program for the Department of Defense to review third party A/E work, conduct self-performed studies and analysis, testing and measuring, and perform specialized engineering services, planning and design reviews, commissioning services and construction oversight on worldwide delivery orders.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Conduct inspection of or observe construction activities performed by the contractor and subcontractors to ensure compliance with the contract documents. Conduct or observe tests to determine if work was performed in accordance with contract specifications.
Specific electrical inspection duties may include any of the following:
• Monitor all electrical installations to assure circuitry, phasing, equipment and grounding adhere to the construction documents.
• Monitor and/or evaluate electrical tests and inspections such as ground fault, ground resistance, insulation resistance, polarity, circuit integrity, load and other electrical tests as required.
• Interpret single-line and/or schematic electrical drawings as well as plans and specifications.
• Provide field checks for the installation and location of electrical equipment, electrical ducts, conduits, cables, panels, and other components of the electrical system being installed.
General construction inspection duties may include any of the following:
• Perform civil and structural tests, such as soil compaction, moisture content, aggregation, graduation, concrete slump, air entrainment, concrete compression, lines and grades survey, bolt torque, and concrete coring.
• Perform destructive and nondestructive tests on metals and other materials through magnaflux, dye-penetrant, radiographic, tension and compression, paint thickness, and resistivity testing.
• Verify location of reinforcing steel before placement of concrete.
• Perform surveillance of underground piping to ensure tightness, bedding, and grade.
• Inspect and monitor piling installation to ensure location and bearing.
• Validate piping systems, including piping and instrumentation diagram checks and hydraulic or other pressure test.
• Verify equipment alignment and balancing operations.
• Perform continuing inspection of painting and insulation to ensure material thickness and coverage continuity.
• Provide general inspection on all construction labor and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship.
• Assure compliance with contract documents and approved submittals.
• Coordinate with the contractor and subcontractor to achieve mutually agreed upon quantities for the Schedule of Values to facilitate progress payments.
